The old fuseworks in Tuckingmill
21 September 2009
On Tuesday 29 September, from 11.00am to 7.30pm, the Baptist Chapel in Pendarves Street, Tuckingmill will be playing host to a public exhibition and consultation on a draft framework which looks at potential future plans for the area to the south of the Tuckingmill. CPR Regeneration, the urban regeneration company for Camborne, Pool and Redruth, has been developing the framework in conjunction with the landowners, stakeholders and developers, and it is now looking for the views of local people on the proposals.
The revised planning for Tuckingmill takes into account some significant changes since the earlier masterplan was produced. Two overall options are now being presented for consideration.
The plans, which people can comment upon, include a new alignment for the potential East to West link road, conversion of the fuseworks buildings, additional development land, options for community facilities and a safeguarded site for a possible future school.
Tim Kellett, Urban Design Manager at CPR Regeneration said, "We must respond to changing times. We need a framework that has some flexibility but will deliver the needs of the area in terms of housing, community facilities, good access and jobs. We hope this framework will encourage future investment in the area. It takes into account the latest projects and stakeholders' longer term aspirations. We are keen to show these plans to local people and look forward to hearing their views."
